Every piece we list is graded on this scale, and the grade is never shown without the flaw list that goes with it. If the flaws cannot be written down, the piece is not ready to list.
Unworn and unused, with original tags or packaging intact. No signs of handling anywhere on the piece.
What to expect. Indistinguishable from retail.
Barely used. Wear is visible only on close inspection: a faint corner rub, light hardware micro-scratching. Structure and interior are pristine.
What to expect. Reads as new when worn.
Honestly used and well kept. Visible corner wear, softened edges, or light interior marks, all photographed and located in the description.
What to expect. Lived-in, entirely wearable.
Significant character: patina, staining, repairs or a structural flaw. Priced for it and described flaw by flaw. Sold as a piece with history.
What to expect. Visible age. May need restoration.
Our inspection process resolves six grades. Buyers see four. Publishing the mapping means the simplification is visible rather than something you have to take on trust.
